This interesting property located in the New Town area of Edinburgh was developed in conjunction with a major property investment and development company from Edinburgh.
This basement property (a former shop) was in a derelict state requiring major refurbishment and with a price tag absolutely perfect to attract potential buyers.
Howe Street is located on a slope and the terrain formation created differences between the floor levels at the front and at the back of the house by as much as 10cm.
To fix this problem we re-laid a new floor joist in a form of wedges reflecting level differences and a chipboard floor was laid as a base allowing a hardwood floor to be fitted correctly. Ceiling level differences posed a greater challenge for our team and we had to take into consideration not only proper levels but also the visual effect any change is going to have in each room.
Whilst period properties can be a challenge restored sympathetically you will retain its character and preserve its future.
